Report events
Pilots can record their own or observed accidents, near misses and other safety events using the FIDA form.
Flight-Sport-Incident-Database · Air sports
FIDA brings together accident, near-miss and safety event reports as a shared basis for analysis, prevention and safer air sports.
The challenge
Lessons from incidents can improve air sports safety. Reports must be recorded consistently, analysed meaningfully and made accessible to authorised parties.
Paragliding, hang gliding, gliding, model flying and parachuting have different events, processes and systems. A shared platform was needed for cross-disciplinary comparison.
The solution
Pilots can record their own or observed accidents, near misses and other safety events using the FIDA form.
Detailed reports provide the data for meaningful accident statistics, analysis and associations' safety work.
Selected reports can be published fully anonymised. Non-personal event data can also help manufacturers improve aircraft and equipment.
Selected information can be displayed on participating associations' websites through an interface.
Import interfaces let national associations transfer data from their existing solutions.
Developed together
DMFV names DHV (German Paragliding and Hang Gliding Association), DSV (German Gliding Association), DMFV (German Model Flying Association) and DFV (German Parachuting Association) as development partners. Other air sports organisations can join the project.
Project expertise
Different events are structured so they can be searched and analysed together.
Import and output interfaces connect the central platform with existing systems and association websites.
Controlled sharing without personal data combines learning with responsible report handling.
Make knowledge accessible
We develop platforms that capture expertise systematically, connect existing systems and make information available where needed.
